History of the ASGC, Inc.

What is the purpose of the ASGC, Inc.?

The Associated Students of Grossmont College’s mission is to effectively represent student needs, keep students informed on related student issues, ensure all students’ fair and equitable opportunities for success, and promote cultural, social, educational, and leadership opportunities for all students.

History

The Associated Students of Grossmont College was incorporated in 1970 in order to serve the students of Grossmont College. Early in the college’s existence, the ASGC, Inc. selected the representative colors (green and gold), mascot (griffin), and establish a functional student government. Throughout the college’s history, the ASGC, Inc. has been instrumental in the construction of the campus bookstore, the financing of scholarships to students, providing equipment and technologies campus-wide, and the purchase of “College Connection” (Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District’s phone-in registration system).

The ASGC, Inc. continues to be the source through which Grossmont students expand their experiences far beyond what they obtain from classroom instruction alone.
